Fayetteville-Manlius High School is one of two Onondaga County schools to be included on Newsweek magazine’s 2016 list of “America’s Top High Schools.”
The magazine released its rankings of the country’s top 500 public high schools on Aug. 11. F-M High School is ranked 125. Skaneateles High School is the other local school named on the list. It is ranked 344. The rankings are based on performance indicators such as state assessments, data reported by states to the U.S. Department of Education and school surveys that ask for information related to factors such as college acceptance and enrollment and SAT and ACT participation and performance.
Newsweek calculated F-M’s college readiness score at 82.4 percent, graduation rate at 97.1 percent and college bound rate at 95.7 percent.
“Recognitions such as these enhance the pride our students, staff and community already feel for this district, where our students and staff members strive every day to take education to the next level,” Superintendent Craig J. Tice said. “This recognition is to be shared by our families, for they are their children’s first teachers and our collective success hinges on all of us working together.”
