The East Syracuse Minoa Central School District Board of Education is seeking applicants to fill the board seat left vacant when board member Jennifer Steigerwald resigned effective July 8 for personal reasons.
The board-appointed candidate will serve until the next annual election, which is anticipated on May 16, 2017.
Interested individuals should submit a letter of interest explaining why they wish to temporarily fill the open seat, noting relevant qualifications as appropriate. The board will accept letters of interest to fill the board position until 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 7. Letters of interest and accompanying information should be mailed or returned to: East Syracuse Minoa Central Schools, Attn: District Clerk, 407 Fremont Road, East Syracuse, NY 13057.
The board will review the applicants’ information and make a recommendation to the full board of education for approval to fill the vacancy by late September or early October 2016.
Pursuant to state law, to be eligible to serve you must be: a citizen of the United States; 18 years of age of older; a legal resident of the school district for one year prior to appointment; and able to read and write.
Applicants cannot be a current employee of the ESM School District, may not simultaneously hold another incompatible public office and cannot have a member of the same household currently serving on the ESM School Board.
