Sharon Apgar, 76, of Cazenovia and formerly of Pompey, passed away peacefully into heaven, her eternal home, on Dec. 13, 2023, with her family by her side.
Sharon was born on March 15, 1947 to Louis and Ruth Kraeuter in Phillipsburg, NJ. She spent her childhood in Clinton, NJ, and graduated from North Hunterdon Regional High School in 1965. Sharon studied nursing at Syracuse University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1969.
Sharon, a registered nurse, was employed by Onondaga County as a public health nurse and later for many years at Lyndon Pediatrics in Fayetteville.
Sharon was an active, long standing member of Eastern Hills Bible Church in Manlius, teaching Sunday School for decades and volunteering there in many other ways. She had a great love of music, singing with both her church choir and the Cazenovia College Community Chorale. She loved nature and the outdoors; enjoying hiking, boating, snow skiing and exploring the Adirondacks and many National Parks. Sharon’s favorite thing was spending time with her beloved family. Her most cherished roles were as loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker.
Sharon is survived by her husband of 55 years Lawrence Apgar, as well as her children Jered (Colleen) Apgar of Pompey, Jennifer (JC) Trussell of Fayetteville and Stephanie (Stephen) Mylenski of East Chester, N.Y., and grandchildren Marin and Colton Apgar, Gavin and Addison Trussell, and Justin, Julia and James Mylenski. Sharon is also survived by her brother Frederick Kraeuter of Boothbay, ME, as well as a brother-in-law and several sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces.
Calling hours will be Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024, from 2-4 p.m., with a Celebration of Life Ceremony at 4 p.m. at the Newell-Fay Manlius Chapel, 8171 Cazenovia Road in Manlius. A reception will follow at Eastern Hills Bible Church, also on Cazenovia Road, after the service.
