Frederick (Terry) W. Fuess lll, the son of Frederick W. Jr. and Winifred Jones Fuess, passed away Nov. 17, 2020. He was born on Nov. 5, 1927, and he lived in Baldwinsville until 1952. He was predeceased by his parents, a sister, Katharine Louise Wissler and a brother; Robert Warren Fuess and his wife, Marilyn Baust Fuess for over 50 years.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Eleanor Slye; his sister, Johanna Martha Armstrong (FL); a son, Frederick “Rick” W. (Leslie) Fuess (FL); a daughter, Cynthia Joan Fuess (CA); grandchildren, Lauren Elizabeth Fuess-Ginn (TX) and Matthew William Fuess (GA); step-family of three children, seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, all of whom he loved very much for the last 15 plus years.
Terry, as he was known by his family, graduated from Baldwinsville Academy in 1945, Morrisville SUNY in 1949, Cornell University with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in 1952 and 1955. He received a Ph.D. from Michigan State University in 1960 and served two years in the Army as a food inspector.
During his teaching career, he taught agriculture at the high school, junior college and Illinois State University for 30 years. He retired from MSU as a Professor Emeritus in 1990.
He traveled extensively, visited all 50 states, most of Canada, China, Japan and Europe. he led three student study trips to France and a faculty group to china.
During the summers he found pleasure in buying antiques at auctions and selling them at his yard sales. These sales were very popular and grew to where terry rented a 60-foot tent. He moved back to Baldwinsville in 2005 when he married Mary Eleanor. They currently lived in McHarrie Towne, a section of McHarrie life, where his interests were growing vegetables, trees and creating extensive Christmas decorations.
