Hobbie Earl Hyatt, 72, passed away Nov. 28, 2020 at the Essex Center, Elizabethtown, N.Y., following complications of COVID-19. Formerly of Morrisonville, N.Y. He was born in Syracuse, on April 9, 1948, the first-born son of the late Earl Francis Hyatt and the late Esther Arvilla (Maine) Hyatt of Cazenovia. Mr. Hyatt was named in honor of his paternal grandfather, Hobbie Eugene Hyatt.
A 1966 graduate of Cazenovia High School, he served his country as a medic in the U.S. Army, 44th Medical Brigade, during the Vietnam War, 1968-1969. As a veteran, he attended SUNY Delhi and became a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator. In 1974, he moved to Plattsburgh, N.Y., to work as the first administrator of Meadowbrook Nursing Home and HRF and was responsible for many changes and growth in the facility until his retirement. He also served as a member of the Town of Plattsburgh Planning Board from 1979-2014.
He is survived by his beloved children, son, Aaron Earl Hyatt (Amy Boduch Hyatt) of Saranac Lake, N.Y., and daughter, Elizabeth “Libby” Hyatt Queguiner (Loic Queguiner) of Plattsburgh, N.Y. He was a loving grandfather to Harrison Earl Hyatt. Also survived by his former wife and mother of his children, Cathleen “Cat” Murray of Au Sable Forks, N.Y. Two brothers also survive, Frank (Terri) of Fenner, N.Y., and James (Laurie) of South Carolina along with several nieces and nephews.
