Ruby Jane Morris, 102, late of Exchange, Ocho Rios, Jamaica and Cazenovia, died on April 3, 2019. She leaves to cherish her memories, her daughters Louise Tyson of Jamaica, Kathlin (Monica) James of Cazenovia, son Desmond Miller, (daughter in-law) of Baltmannsweiler, Germany, sister, Joyce Morris-White of Exchange, 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and great-great-grandchildren. Ruby was preceded in death by her grandson Warren Anthony Miller and her five brothers and six sisters.
Ruby emigrated to the United States in 1967, where she resided in Cazenovia. She was a member of the Community Covenant church in Manlius, and the Exchange Baptist Church in Jamaica. Ruby was a dedicated and active church member and an incredibly loving mother, grandmother and friend. She loved the beach and traveling to different places with friends or to visit her family in the states. She was a traveler up until her last days. At every destination, she made new friends. She always struck up conversations with passengers while traveling, and those traveling with her would have to wait until she had exchanged information with her new connections. She was a celebrity in her own right. She was a “young” centenarian and always the life of the party, dancing in the spotlight.
Thanks giving service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, in the Ocho Rios Baptist Church. Internment follows in the Morris family plot at Prosper Hall, Exchange Jamaica. The family will receive friends from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. Thursday, May 9, at her home in Exchange. All are welcome to attend and celebrate the amazing, remarkable life of Ruby Jane Morris.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Exchange Baptist or Community Covenant Church.
