Robert A. Hughes, 87, of Cazenovia, died Monday, April 17, 2017, at University Hospital in Syracuse. Robert was a member of the Cazenovia United Methodist Church and was a charter member of the Fenner Conservation Club. He owned and operated an excavating business for 25 years and was the owner of Bingley Cider Mill. Robert enjoyed many years pursuing his favorite pastime of hunting and fishing.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Kathleen M. Tobin.
Robert is survived by his wife of 65 years, the former Rita Covey Hughes; two sons, Brian (Kathleen) Hughes and Rodney (Kim) Hughes; a sister, Marilyn Slauson; a brother, Bernard (Peggy) Hughes; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and two nephews.
Memorial services will be held at noon Monday, April 24, at Michael E. Brown Funeral Services, 2333 Fenner Road, Cazenovia. The family will receive friends and relatives on Monday prior to the service at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until noon.
