Village of North Syracuse appoints new police officer

Chief Steve Rotunno is pleased to announce the appointment of the Village of North Syracuse Police Department’s newest police officer. Michael J. Malvasi was approved by the village board at its Feb. 8 meeting; Officer Malvasi replaces Sergeant Roberta Comerford, who retired on Jan. 5. Malvasi assumed his new position effective Feb. 24.

Malvasi is a graduate of Bishop Ludden High School and Onondaga Community College Regional Police Academy. Malvasi also served in the Department of the Army from 2009 to January 2018, where he served as a team leader (Forward Observer) specializing in Personal Security Detail and served on the Army’s Honor Guard. Malvasi received numerous commendations and achievement awards during his career in the Army.
