Andersen nominated by Dems for re-election to Cazenovia town board

Cazenovia Democrats have nominated incumbent Cazenovia Town Board member Kristi Andersen to run for re-election during the Nov. 7 election.

She was first elected to the Town Board in 2005, and re-elected in 2009 and 2013.

During her years on the Town Board, Andersen has been responsible for working with the planning board, the zoning board of appeals, and the CACC (Cazenovia Area Conservation Commission) on issues of development, zoning regulations and land use. She has also served as the town board representative to CACDA (Cazenovia Area Community Development Association). In that capacity, Andersen has worked on securing funding for projects such as the Empire Brewery, GoCaz.com, RecDesk, sewer district consolidation, digitization of Town records and others. She currently chairs the committee that is studying the possibility of consolidating the town and the village.

Andersen grew up in Nebraska, was educated in Massachusetts and Chicago, and taught in the Maxwell School at Syracuse University until her retirement last year. She has three grown children and three grandchildren.

During the 33 years she has lived in Cazenovia, Andersen has been a Girl Scout leader and a board member of Cazenovia Children’s House, Friends of the Library and the Cazenovia Forum and served as president of the Cazenovia Library Board of Trustees.

“We have a very productive and functional town board right now, and wonderful, hard-working town employees. It’s very satisfying to know that we are all working as a team for the benefit of the community,” Andersen said. “I have learned a lot about municipal law, planning and zoning, budgeting, lake health and other issues during my time on the town board, and I look forward to continuing my service and my learning. “
