Karin Marris has been elected Nelson Town Justice after being appointed to the position nearly one year ago. Marris, who ran unopposed, received 619 votes, while 332 ballots were left blank and there were three write-ins, according to results from the Madison County Board of Elections.

Marris was appointed town justice on Jan. 14, 2016, after the town board interviewed three potential candidates for the position. She replaced former Town Justice Patrick O’Sullivan, who was elected Madison County judge in November 2015.
