Chief of Police John Anton reports that on September 20, 2019 at approximately 11:20 p.m. the DeWitt Police responded to 202 W. Yates Street in the Village of East Syracuse, for reported shots fired. Upon arrival officers found that the entry way to 202 W. Yates Street had been struck with what appeared to be a shotgun round.
A gray Dodge Journey was observed leaving the scene at a high rate of speed. No injuries were reported.
On September 21, 2019 the Town of DeWitt Police Department, with the assistance of the Onondaga County 911 Center and Manlius Police Department, located the vehicle and the registered owner of the vehicle.
A subsequent search warrant was executed, and the shotgun and ammunition were recovered from the vehicle.
The registered owner of the vehicle, Anthony J. Scott, of East Syracuse, was subsequently arrested and charged with multiple felony charges to include reckless endangerment in the first degree (D-Felony) and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree (D-Felony).
