DeWitt police have arrested two people in connection with an alleged stabbing that occurred on Sept. 22 in the parking lot of a hotel near Carrier Circle.
Christel Mattice, 26, from Mexico, N.Y., and Anthony Kazel, 20, of Cleveland, N.Y., were arrested in regards to their involvement in an altercation which resulted in a 25-year-old female victim being stabbed multiple times, according to a release from DeWitt police.
According to police, Mattice and the victim who had prior familiarity with each other became engaged in an altercation in the parking lot at approximately 10:20 p.m. on Sept. 22. During the course of the altercation, Mattice allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim multiple times.
While this was occurring Kazel, who was also armed with a knife, stood by and allegedly attempted to prevent other individuals from rendering aid to the victim. After the altercation ended, the victim was transported by a friend to Upstate University Hospital, where she was treated for serious injurious she sustained. She is currently listed as in stable condition, according to police.
Mattice was arrested and charged with assault in the first degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree. She was arraigned by Judge Zavaglia and is being held at the Onondaga County Justice Center on $20,000 cash or $50,000 bond. She is scheduled to return to the Town of DeWitt Court on Sept. 28.
Kazel was arrested and charged with criminal mischief in the third degree, menacing in the second degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree and petit larceny. He was arraigned by Judge Zavaglia and is being held at the Onondaga County Justice Center on $10,000 cash or $30,000 bond. He is scheduled to return to the Town of DeWitt Court on Sept. 28.
