The DeWitt Police Department report responding to a fight in progress that occurred on Dec. 28 at the Marshalls store on 3409 Erie Boulevard in DeWitt where a woman was arrested for larceny and assaulting the loss prevention officer.
Police report that they were dispatched to a fight in progress and upon arrival, officers spoke with Marshalls employees who stated that a woman had stolen from the store and fought with the loss prevention officer when he attempted to detain her outside the store.
During the fight, police say the suspect brandished a pair of scissors and threatened to stab the loss prevention officer, and during the struggle the woman who was cut by her own scissors as they wrestled. In a final attempt to get away, officers say the suspect then bit the loss prevention officer on the arm.
The suspect was arrested and identified as 42-year-old, Shannene M. Harrison of Syracuse. Harrison was charged with robbery in the first degree, menacing in the third degree, assault in the third degree and petit larceny.
Police say Harrison was taken to the hospital for the injury she sustained by her own scissors where she was treated and released. She was arraigned before the DeWitt Town Justice Gideon and held at the justice center on $10,000 cash/$20,000 bond.
