Roth Global Plastics, a leading manufacturer of residential septic and rainwater tanks, is extending its lease at the Salina Industrial Powerpark until 2024. This is Roth’s second lease extension since moving into the park in 2003.
The Revitalizing Auto Communities Environmental Response (RACER) Trust held an open house at the Powerpark Oct. 30 to announce Roth’s lease renewal and showcase available office space to local businesses.
“We couldn’t be more excited for Mr. Joe Brown and his team and the families who will be supported by the jobs here,” Patricia Spitzley, deputy redevelopment manager of RACER Trust, said of Roth North America’s President and CEO Joseph Brown.
RACER Trust was formed in 2011 to rehabilitate former GM properties after the auto industry giant declared bankruptcy in 2009. Salina Industrial Powerpark has been under the ownership of Pyramid Brokerage Co. for about 20 years. The Powerpark. a former General Motors plant, houses nine tenants, including Roth and Syracuse Glass Co.
Brown said he originally looked at the Powerpark in 1995 when it was in the midst of renovations, but decided to house the company elsewhere.
“I said, ‘Who in God’s name would run a manufacturing business in this place?’ Apparently, the answer is Roth,” Brown joked.
He said the nearly 800,000-square-foot facility is a “fixer-upper, but it’s got good bones.” Roth occupies 103,200 square feet in the complex.
“In a world where it’s very ‘tear down and build new,’ we’re proud to be a part of repurposing this building,” Brown said.
In a press release, Salina Supervisor Mark Nicotra said the town is “extremely pleased” that Roth has decided to extend its stay at the park by 10 years.
“Roth Global has been an integral part of the community and we look forward to that continuing,” Nicotra said in the release.
