Minecraft After School | Tuesday, December 5th at 4:00 PM | Stop in after school to play Minecraft with your friends using the Minecraft Education Edition on the library’s laptops. Our Youth Leader will be available to help coach kids through any issues or Minecraft questions. Registration required. For ages 8 – 12.
Pokemon Battle Academy | Tuesday, December 12th at 4:00 PM |Play Battle Academy at the library! Bring your own Pokemon cards or use the library’s supplies. This program is led by one of our Youth Ambassadors. Registration required. For ages 11 – 15.
Library Board Meeting | Tuesday, December 12th at 6:30 PM | The Library Board is made up of community members who volunteer their time and skills to further the mission of the library. All meetings are open and the public is welcome to attend.
Cookbook Club: Soups and Charcuterie | Wednesday, December 13th at 6:00 PM | This month’s theme is Soups and Charcuterie. Bring a prepared dish to share and the cookbook/recipe that inspired the dish. Everyone will have a chance to sample dishes from an assortment of cookbooks while only having to prepare one dish. Make sure you come hungry! Registration is requested so that we know how many places to set at the table!
Guitar Concert: Ricardo Saeb | Saturday, December 16th at 7:30 PM | Mexican guitarist Ricardo Saeb has performed in venues across Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, and the United States. His performances have been described as “perfectly balanced,” “of an exquisite subtlety,” and “simply spectacular.” His tours have taken him to cities as diverse as Querétaro, Beirut, New York, Ciudad Juárez, Boston, Dallas, and Córdoba. Ricardo Saeb has appeared as a guest artist at international festivals such as the Festival Internacional de Música de Morelia, Festival Internacional Chihuahua, Chicago’s Latin American Guitar Festival, among others.
Morning Book Club: The People We Keep | Monday, December 18th at 10:30 AM |This month we’re reading The People We Keep by Allison Larkin, a story about a young songwriter longing to find a home in the world. Participants have the option to join the discussion either in-person at the library or virtually via Zoom.
Writer’s Club | Tuesday, December 19th at 4:00 PM | Writer’s Club is for kids who love to tell their own stories. Librarian Mary Beth will pose a writing prompt and kids will have time to develop and write their own short stories. For ages 8 – 12.
Evening Book Club: Paris Apartment | Wednesday, December 20th at 6:30 PM |
This month we’re reading The Paris Apartment by Lucy Foley. A thriller set in an apartment building where everyone’s a neighbor, everyone’s a suspect and everyone knows something they’re not telling. Participants have the option to join the discussion either in-person at the library or virtually via Zoom.
Winter Solstice Celebration | Thursday, December 21st from 4:00 – 6:00 PM | Slow down and embrace winter during this Solstice Celebration at the library. From 4:00 – 6:00 PM, both indoor and outdoor activities will help you connect to nature, yourself, and your loved ones. No registration. All ages.
Nailed It! | Wednesday, December 27th at 2:30 PM | Inspired by the show, Nailed It!, kids will compete to recreate a winter dessert decoration and then eat their hard work at the end of the program. Registration required. For ages 8 – 12.
Stuffed Animal Story Time | Thursday, December 28th at 10:30 – 11:30 AM | Wear your PJs and bring a stuffie to story time! Together we’ll read a story, sing songs, and make a craft. After story time, leave your stuffed animal for a sleepover at the library. When you pick up your stuffy the next day, snack on some teddy grahams and juice while you view silly pictures from the sleepover. Pickup is Friday, December 29th between 10 AM and 1 PM. No registration. For ages 2 – 7.
Noon Year’s BINGO | Sunday, December 31st from 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM | Ring in the “noon” year at the library! We’ll play several rounds of BINGO while we countdown to noon and toast with glasses of sparkling juice. Every child will win a small prize during our BINGO game. For ages 5 – 10 with an adult. Registration required.
Family Read Aloud Book Club: Winter Session | November – February | Pick up your copy of The Wild Robot by Peter Brown and read aloud as a family this fall. Join us on Thursday, March 7th at 6:00 PM for a pizza party featuring a book discussion and activity inspired by the story. Registration required. For families with a child in grades 1 – 2.
