The annual Mother’s Day Garden Tour at Sycamore Hill Gardens at 2130 Old Seneca Turnpike in Marcellus is returning this year on Sunday, May 14.
From 10 to 4 p.m. visitors can enjoy a self-guided stroll touring the more than 30 acres of the private gardens of the Hanford family, the event sponsoring hosts. This unique experience is a great way to spend quality time with the entire family with fun for all ages.
The one-of-a-kind features of Sycamore Hill Gardens set it apart from other garden experiences. Visitors will get the chance to view over 700,000 beautiful flowering bulbs and hundreds of varieties of trees and shrubs.
Walk over the magnificent koi pond on giant stepping stones and count how many statues you can find along your way through the gardens. Explore the twists and turns of the one-acre maze made from over 2,200 emerald green arborvitaes, ring a gong, and make a rock sculpture in the sunken garden. Pick up a scavenger hunt list on your way into the gardens and see how many items you can check off your list.
This year’s Mother’s Day Garden Tour sponsors include Beak & Skiff Apple Orchards / 1911 Established, Central New York Community Foundation, Firley, Moran, Freer & Eassa, CPA, P.C., and KeyBank. If you would like to become a sponsor of this year’s garden tour, contact Whitney Lash-Marshall at [email protected] or by phone at 315-673-1350.
Visitors are encouraged to bring picnic accessories like lawn chairs, a blanket, and a packed lunch with them to the garden tour.
Local food trucks will also be on-site during the Garden Tour, including The Chicken Bandit, Blueberries & Lace, and Skippy Ice Cream.
Baltimore Woods will also be hosting a raffle in the barn where guests and their families can purchase tickets to enter to win great local prizes. Those with limited mobility are welcome to bring mobility scooters for use on the stone dust paths and lawn areas.
Tour tickets are just $10 through April 22 and $15 April 23 to May 13. Children ages 8 and under are admitted free. Tickets are not available at Sycamore Hill Gardens, but can be purchased online at baltimorewoods.org and are also being sold at several area locations including Baltimore Woods Nature Center, Bailiwick Market & Cafe, Rolands of Skaneateles, Metro Home Style, Cafe 108, Ballantyne Gardens, and Chocolate Pizza. Event day online ticket availability is not guaranteed. Parking available across the street in the field; no pets allowed.
All garden tour proceeds benefit Baltimore Woods Nature Center in its mission of connecting communities and nature in wisdom and wonder, both at the Baltimore Woods nature preserve and across Central New York.
Baltimore Woods Nature Center stewards a 270 acre preserve in Marcellus, offering a place to connect with nature through year-round public programs, summer day camps, community events, and over six miles of hiking trails that are open to the public every day of the year with free admission.
