Tiny Art Craft Kits | Available beginning January 1st | First come, first served
Be creative and have fun with this month’s Kit. Use this 4×4 canvas to paint, collage, or draw a very small masterpiece and then return it to the library by Friday, February 3rd to be displayed as a part of our Tiny Art Show. All artists are invited to join us for a reception on Friday, February 10th. For all ages.
Sensory Explorations | Thursday, January 5th from 4:00 – 4:30 PM: Join us on the first Thursday of the month for a special program for kids 18 months to 3 years. Each child will explore and learn through hands-on tactile play that engages the senses. This program helps to develop fine motor skills and introduce new words, concepts, and tactile sensations.
Graphic Novel Book Club | Sunday, January 8th at 2:30 PM: Our January book is Smile by Raina Telgemeier. Every month, we’ll read a graphic novel and then get together at the library to chat about the book, play games, and flex our creative brains. For kids in grades 3 – 5.
Chess Club | Mondays, January 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th at 4:00 PM: Learn to play chess at the library! During this fall session, kids 9+ will learn the basics of chess. Led by our teen volunteer, the session is a combination of lessons about the different chess pieces, the rules of the game, and simple strategies combined with games and chess play. For ages 9+. Registration required.
Sit ‘n Stitch | Tuesday, January 10th from 2:00 – 3:30 PM
Love to knit, crochet, embroider, quilt, cross stitch, etc? Bring your WIP (work in progress), meet new friends, and connect with old ones! While this is not an instructional class, learn from the wisdom of others and share ideas. The Sit ‘n Stitch group will meet on the second Tuesday of every month.
Young Writer’s Club | Tuesdays, January 10th, 17th, 24th, 31st from 4:30 – 5:30 PM: If you have a child who loves to tell stories, join our Writer’s Club! Librarian Mary Beth will read a short story about writing at the beginning of each meeting and assign a prompt for the session. Children illustrate and tell their own stories with help from a caregiver. For ages 7 – 9 with an adult helper. Registration required.
Movie Matinee: Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris | Wednesday, January 11th at 2:00 PM:
In 1950s London, a widowed cleaning lady falls madly in love with a couture Dior dress, deciding she must have one of her own. After working to raise the funds to pursue her dream, she embarks on an adventure to Paris that will change not only her own outlook — but the very future of the House of Dior.

Morning Book Club | Monday, January 16th at 10:30 AM: Join us on the 3rd Monday of every month to chat books! Come every month or just for the books that interest you most.
This month we’re reading The Violin Conspiracy by Brendan Slocumb, a mystery about a Black classical musician whose family heirloom violin is stolen on the eve of the most prestigious classical music competition in the world.

Open Craft: Tiny Art | Monday, January 16th from 1:00 – 3:00 PM: Want to submit a Tiny Art masterpiece for the Library’s Tiny Art Show, but in need of inspiration? Drop-in the library and use a variety of paint, paper, fabric, and glue to create your very own tiny canvas. For all ages.
Guitar Concert: Ben Ellis | Saturday, January 21st at 7:30 PM:
Ben Ellis programs recitals that explore all the unexpected corners of the guitar repertoire. Programing and pairing works from 18th to the 21st century, Ellis finds the surprising threads that connect contrasting works. His programs have included pairing transcriptions of violin music by Ysaye and Bach as well as the standard “When You Wish Upon A Star” arranged by Chet Atkins paired with an homage to Walt Disney by contemporary composer Darragh O’Neil.
Ellis holds a master’s degree from Syracuse University and a bachelor’s degree from SUNY Fredonia. He currently resides in Syracuse, NY where he maintains a large teaching studio. An active freelancer, Ben has also performed with the Syracuse Symphony and the Syracuse Opera.
Environmentalism with Young Naturalists | Sunday, January 22nd at 1:00 PM: For ages 12 – 18. Registration required.
Evening Book Club | Wednesday, January 25th at 6:30 PM: It’s easy to join our book clubs! Come every month or just for the books that interest you most. Meetings are casual and everyone is welcome. The Evening Book Club meets the last Wednesday of the month.
This month we’re reading Turtles All the Way Down by John Green, a novel about love, the pain of mental illness, the power of lifelong friendship and coming of age when you feel like you’re coming undone.

Library Board Meeting | Thursday, January 26th at 6:30 PM: The Library Board is made up of community members who volunteer their time and skills to further the mission of the library. All meetings are open, and the public is welcome to attend.

Family Read Aloud Book Club: Winter Session | Sunday, February 26th at 11:00 AM: Bond as a family this winter by joining our Family Read Aloud Book Club. Grab a copy of A Boy Called Bat by Elana K. Arnold from the library, bring it home and spend the winter reading it together as a family. Then, join us at the library on February 26th to connect with other families and do an activity inspired by the book. Enjoy coffee, hot chocolate, and donuts. Registration required. For families with a child in grades 1 – 2.

Baby Bounce & Rhyme | Wednesdays at 9:15 AM: Bond with your baby during this program featuring nursery rhymes, books, movement and fingerplays, followed by playtime. For babies up to 18 months.
Read, Sing, Play Story Time | Thursdays at 10:30 AM: Can’t sit still? No problem! Join us for stories, songs and movement. For ages 18 months – 4 years.
