The public is invited to an online discussion with Annie Delano, owner and founder of AND Casting, on how to get started as a local background extra for feature films and television series. Lights, Camera, Extras! will be held through Maxwell Memorial Library via Zoom on Tuesday, Jan. 10, at 7 p.m.
With American High’s Syracuse-based film studio making movies here in Central New York, as well as other filming opportunities, it’s easier than you might think. Delano has helped cast extras for The Ultimate Playlist of Noise, I Love My Dad, Mabel, The Binge and many other films.
Maxwell’s Library Assistant and Adult Program Coordinator Rena Brower was introduced to Delano by library co-worker Ann Cassidy, who frequently works as a movie extra. Cassidy’s latest gig was in American High’s new production It’s a Wonderful Binge.
Having Delano offer a presentation on becoming part of the world of movies and television seemed a great and timely opportunity.
There is a need for people of all ages, diversities, and types to make background scenes realistic.
Films are coming up in January and February, so casting could happen very soon.
There’s no obligation in attending this free informational program.
Registration is required.
