CAMILLUS — St. Joseph’s Church of Camillus is holding its second annual trunk sale on Saturday, July 30.
The event will be taking place in the main parking lot of the church at 5600 W. Genesee St. from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Vendors are expected to check in and set up in their roughly 16-foot space between 8 and 9 that morning, and if they prefer, they can choose to bring their own table and a 10-by-10 tent in addition to their open trunk display.
Having brought in 28 total vendors last year while raising $800 for the parish, St. Joseph’s inaugural trunk sale was called a “pretty good success” by Cathy Seigal, the president of the church’s Altar and Rosary Society. Still, since the community is now getting past COVID concerns, she said she hopes to top that turnout this time around.
“It was such a fun event last year,” Seigal said. “The vendors enjoyed it and the people who shopped enjoyed it, so it was something that we wanted to do again this year.”
Items sold at the first trunk sale included holiday decorations, furniture, small household appliances, hair care products and sporting equipment like fishing rods.
Once again set to benefit the local Catholic church and feature catering from Charlee’s Ice Cream, the trunk sale is being sponsored by the Altar and Rosary Society, the 48-member group which leads prayers, cleans the church’s marble altar, invites in guest speakers, and holds events like ecumenical dinners and other fundraisers.
The trunk sale is open to the entire community, and according to Seigal, there will be enough spots to “safely incorporate” 35 separate sellers plus a few extras.
The latest date to reserve a spot with a check to the church or a cash payment of $20 to the rectory office on its west side is the day of the event, but to ensure a space, registration by the day before is recommended.
