SKANEATELES — The Skaneateles Area Arts Council (SKARTS) announced funding for its 2022 grant awards for art and cultural activities. Grants are awarded to groups and individuals within a 15-mile radius of the village of Skaneateles. Applications are located at the SKARTS website grants page: art4skarts.org/grant-application.The deadline for submission is May 31, 2022.
All artists, arts organizations, choral groups, museums, schools, theaters and other not-for-profit organizations committed to the arts are encouraged to apply. Multiple grants are issued with a maximum of $1,000 per grant. Not all applicants are awarded grants. Grant winners are identified at SKARTS’ sole discretion through their judging process.
According to Laurel Moranz, SKARTS president, “Thanks to our many donors’ generosity, the SKARTS board was able to approve funds for the 2022 grant program. We are so grateful that the community stepped up to help our grants funding even though we were unable to hold our fund-raising art show due to the pandemic.”
Moranz also noted, “I’m happy to report that in 2022, Art4Skarts, our annual fund-raiser and juried art show, will return. This exciting event will showcase the work of dozens of local artists. The opening reception will be on Thursday, Sept. 15 and the art show will continue to September 24 during the Cayuga Museum’s normal hours. We are asking all our friends and supporters to save the dates.”
Since 2006, SKARTS has issued over 130 grants, contributing to the pursuit of artistic and cultural endeavors in the area.
The 13 grantees for 2021 represented grant winning projects that ranged widely from purchases of art supplies and programs to sponsorship of on-line musical performances or organizations and educational opportunities.
The SKARTS 2021 grantees included Auburn Public Theater, John D. Barrow Art Gallery, E. John Gavras Center, Genesee Elementary School, MasterWorks Chorale, Montessori School of The Finger Lakes, Schweinfurth Art Center, Skaneateles Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation, Skaneateles Historical Society, Skaneateles Library Association, Skaneateles Middle School, The Rev Theatre Company (formerly Merry-Go-Round Playhouse, Inc.), and Victoria Fitzgerald Art.
