Ecumenical Clergy Association prepares for Thanksgiving service
Submitted by Rev. Joellyn Tuttle
Every year, the Skaneateles Ecumenical Clergy Association (SECA) provides a Thanksgiving Service as a gift to the community.
The SECA clergy rotate responsibilities for this worship service, and this year Rev. Dr. Becky Coerper and Rev. Toppie Bates and the congregation of St. James’ Episcopal Church at 98 E. Genesee St. are graciously hosting this event on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 24, at 4 p.m.
This is a wonderful way to begin Thanksgiving week festivities.
The Rev. Tim Brinkerhoff from the Owasco Reformed Church will be the preacher. There will be a combined choir consisting of singers from our Skaneateles Churches that will provide the anthem under the directorship of Kip Coerper and lead congregational singing guided by Michael Larkin. Singers are asked to arrive at 3 p.m. for a brief rehearsal.
A free-will offering will go to support our local food pantries.
All are invited to bring canned goods or financial contributions. Checks may be made out to: Skaneateles Ecumenical Clergy Association with “food pantry” in the memo line.
The service will culminate with a reception in St. James’ Parish Hall overlooking the lake.
Please come and bring family and friends to help share in giving thanks for our community and for the wonders of our beautiful and bountiful Finger Lakes surroundings.
Parking is available on the street or in the First Presbyterian Church’s parking lot at 97 E. Genesee St. across the street from St. James’.
