The following statement was issued by the Solvay school district in the wake of reports a student had threatened to bring a gun to school.
This morning the high school administrative staff were notified that a student threatened to bring a gun to school. The building administrators immediately followed the District’s safety protocol, placed the building into lockdown and notified the police.
The police will complete a thorough search of the building and, upon their determination that the situation is secure and safe, the lockdown will be lifted and normal activities will resume.
At this time it is reported staff and students are safe and a suspect has been taken into custody.
Police will continue the investigation and they noted anything that has been posted on social media about the incident has not been verified yet.
