The Milton J. Rubenstein Museum of Science & Technology is continuing its holiday tradition of showing “The Polar Express” in its six-story domed IMAX theater. It’s the 11th straight year that the MOST will be showing the movie, which has become a family favorite for Central New Yorkers.
The movie focuses on a boy who is on the cusp of not believing in Santa until the boy takes a train ride to the North Pole and meets Santa. Seeing the movie in the Bristol IMAX Omnitheater, the only domed IMAX theater in New York State, makes for a unique experience.
The MOST will be showing the movie at least twice a day, with an extra show at 7 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Tickets are available online at most.org/watch/buy-imax-tickets.
The museum is also bringing back its very popular, child-friendly Polar Express Pajama Parties. The parties include several hands-on activities related to the movie and a visit with Santa. They run from 5:30 to 7 p.m., followed by a viewing of “The Polar Express.”
The pajama parties will be held Nov. 26 and Dec. 3 and 17. A special party for people with sensory processing challenges and their friends and family will be Dec. 10. During that party, the IMAX sound system will be turned down and the theater doors left open for people who need to take a break from the stimulation.
Polar Express Pajama Parties cost $4 per person in addition to the cost of the IMAX ticket. Tickets are available online at most.org/watch/the-polar-express or by phone at 425-9068, ext. 2132. But don’t delay! The parties, which are limited to 214 people each, always sell out.
