The Onondaga County Department of Transportation will hold a public information meeting to discuss improvements to the Fremont Road bridge over Butternut Creek in the Town of Manlius. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 2, at East Syracuse Minoa High School, 6400 Fremont Road, East Syracuse.
After a brief presentation at 7 p.m., engineers will be available at project stations (open house format), offering a welcoming environment for the public to review preliminary plans, ask questions and provide comments and concerns.
The proposed project is located on Fremont Road (C.R. 136) approximately 2,200 feet northerly of Kirkville Road. The existing single span steel girder bridge has a low condition rating based on the New York State Department of Transportation’s biannual inspection. The bridge will be replaced with an adjacent pre-stressed concrete slab bridge with integral abutments founded on piles. The roadway approaches will be reconstructed in the vicinity of the bridge to match the existing highway section. An upgraded guiderail system will be installed. This project is scheduled for construction in 2019.
This project is a locally administered federal aid project. It is being progressed by Onondaga County, with involvement from the New York State Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration.
