Elbridge resident named director of Fireman’s Association
Michael Caron, a 32-year veteran of the fire service, was re-elected director of the Firemen’s Association of the State of New York (FASNY), at its 144th Annual Convention in Albany.
Caron is currently a member of the Elbridge Volunteer Fire Department in Onondaga County.
Caron has held a number of ranks in EVFD, including executive board president, and is currently a Fire Police Lieutenant.
Caron has consistently played a major role in advocating for laws that protect and are in the best interest of firefighters.
Prior to his election as director, Caron served on FASNY’s Legislative Committee.
He is currently a director of the Central New York Volunteer Firemen’s Association and is also a co-chairman of the Northern Central Volunteer Firemen’s Association Legislative Committee – advocating for legislation that better protects his fellow firefighters.
He also serves on numerous FASNY committees, including the Firefighter of the Year Committee, the Bi-Laws Committee, the Committee for Budget and Finance, Insurance Committee, and the Media Communications Committee.
He is a staunch community advocate, previously holding a number of local positions, serving as a member of the Planning Board and as a Trustee for the Village of Elbridge. He is currently serving on the Board of Directors for the Camden Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the Knights of Columbus where he has held leadership positions for his Council and his Chapter.
In addition, Caron was instrumental in advocating for, and building, Elbridge’s first recreational park. Today, it is regarded as one of the nicest parks in Onondaga County.
He has more than 20 years of financial planning experience and is a Senior Financial Representative at Principal Financial Group®. He is a past-President of his Professional Association NAIFA-Syracuse.
Caron and his wife Renee recently celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary. They have three daughters, two sons-in-law and one grandson.
