A three-car accident on Albany Street Tuesday morning sent one man to the hospital and left a car with a crushed front end.
According to Cazenovia Police Chief Michael Hayes, at about 8:50 a.m. a pickup truck driving on Albany Street stopped for a pedestrian crossing the road; while the car behind the truck — a Pontiac Vibe — was traveling with the truck and also stopped. A third car behind the Vibe smashed into the Vibe, which was driven into the rear end of the truck, caving in the front of the Vibe.
“The driver said she looked away for just a second,” Hayes said. “She’s very, very upset.”
The driver of the Vibe was taken to the hospital by CAVAC for neck and back injury complaints; the Vibe passenger was treated on scene for complaints of neck pain and a headache but refused to be transported to the hospital.
Eastbound traffic on Albany Street was diverted onto Lincklaen Street immediately after the accident. The lane was reopened to traffic at 9:40 a.m.
In addition to Cazenovia police and CAVAC, Cazenovia Fire Department personnel also were on scene to assist.
