Voters in the Jamesville-DeWitt school district came out on Tuesday, May 19 to approve the $52.5 million 2015-16 budget with 1,039 votes yes to 341 votes no.
This budget will bring a tax levy total of $37.9 million, with a 2.85 percent increase in levy. A proposal to allow the district to purchase four 65-passenger busses at a cost not to exceed $454,000 was also approved in a vote of 1,045 to 332.
Voters also elected three candidates to the board of education on May 19: incumbent Angela Tyson, with 865 votes; incumbent and current president Mark Schulman, with 828 votes; and Michelle Kielbasinski with 819 votes.
Candidate Jacob Bendix came short of being elected to the board, receiving the least number of votes at 746.
Leaving the board of education will be Ken Dawe, who stepped in to finish out the term for three-term board member Jack McLoughlin when he resigned from the board in October 2014.
Tyson, Schulman and Kielbasinski will start their three-year terms in July.
The DeWitt Library $1.4 million budget was also approved at this election with a vote of 967 to 405.
