All eyes are about to turn to Kanon Valley Golf Club, where for the second year in a row the Section III girls golf championships would get determined.
Before that, though, the local sides had a lot of competition left, none more important than Jamesville-DeWitt, Christian Brothers Academy and East Syracuse-Minoa heading to Woodcrest Golf Club for Tuesday’s Onondaga High School League championships.
And the match belonged to the Red Rams, as the trio of Victoria Roney, Molly Hair and Jung-Hye Kim helped J-D post a team total of 343, well clear of runner-up CBA, who had 393. ESM finished with a team score of 461.
On the individual side, it was Roney seizing the spotlight from the Fairfield University-bound Hair, shooting an 18-hole score of 78 – 38 on the front nine, 40 on the back nine – to claim medalist honors.
Hair, shooting an 83, had to settle for second place, just one shot better than Kim’s total of 84. As if that wasn’t enough, Allana Jones, with a 98, claimed eighth place, with Jessica Rieger moving to ninth place with her total of 100.
Ellie Baumgartner led CBA’s efforts, shooting an 84 to tie Kim for third place, while Annie Fletcher put up a 94 to claim sixth place and Elisabeth Kip managed a 96 and finished seventh. Mackenzie Griffin (115) and Katie Toole (128) were further back.
ESM senior Jenna Buffaloe led her side with a round of 110, two shots ahead of Cassie Bukaty, while Sarah Hiltbrand put up a 116. Jenna Riihinen had a 123, beating teammate Hannah Owens by a two-shot margin.
