At its home pool for back-to-back meets 48 hours apart, the Baldwinsville boys swim team would go 1-1, but win the league portion of its twin bill.
The Bees defeated Cicero-North Syracuse 54-39 Thursday night, going to the front right away as Ryan App, John Sidorakis, Eric Johnson and Michael Boyce sped through the 200 medley relay in one minutes, 56.83 seconds to prevail.
Right after, Johnson claimed first place in the 200 freestyle in 2:05.85, with Sidorakis needing 2:19.22 to prevail in the 200 individual medley. They would both add a second title later in the meet as Johnson beat the field in the 100 butterfly (1:02.29) and Sidorakis went 1:02.46 in the 100 backstroke.
In back-to-back races, App and Boyce prevailed, as App went 57.31 seconds in the 100 freestyle before Boyce got first place in the 500 freestyle in 5:44.21. B’ville also won the 200 freestyle relay as Braden Miles, Clayton Dombrowsky, Dan Watkins and Justin Beckley prevailed in 1:47.38.
B’ville had struggled in last Tuesday night’s meet against Fulton, absorbing a 50-44 defeat to the Red Raiders.
The Bees fell despite a pair of individual victories from Johnson. In the 200 freestyle, Johnson prevailed in 1:59.68, sneaking under the two-minute mark, and moved on to the 100 butterfly, where he grabbed first place in 1:02.83.
App, in 55.32 seconds, beat the field in the 100 freestyle, with Sidorakis needing 1:02.79 to snag first place in the 100 backstroke. Sidorakis and App, joined by Johnson and Boyce, were victorious in the 400 freestyle relay in 3:46.60.
But Fulton won the other two relays, edging the Bees, 1:43.04 to 1:43.78 despite the work of Johnson, Watkins, Dombrowsky and Miles. Andrew Distin led the Red Raiders as he won the 200 individual medley (2:17.04) and helped in both the 200 freestyle and 200 medley relays for his side.
