UPDATE: the district announced at 7:30 Tuesday morning that classes would be cancelled for the whole day.
With the forecast calling for wind chills as low as 31 degrees below zero for Tuesday, the Skaneateles Central School District have announced a delay for classes.
Skaneateles will have a two hour delay Tuesday, Jan. 7 according to a notice posted on the district website, skanschools.org and sent to parents via the district School News Notifier system, Monday afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service, a winter storm will hit most of the eastern and central United States Monday night. The storm includes cold arctic air, heavy snowfall in some places and dangerous wind chills.
The weather service’s forecast for Tuesday in Skaneateles reads:
“A slight chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy and cold, with a high near 4. Wind chill values as low as -31. Windy, with a west wind 25 to 28 mph, with gusts as high as 41 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.”
