Just before 2013 turned into 2014, the Skaneateles indoor track and field teams went back to SRC Arena to compete together in Monday’s Oscar B. Jensen Holiday Relays – and found a fair amount of success.
Skaneateles had its best effort in the mile relay. Kaitlyn Neal finished third among individuals in five minutes, 15.99 seconds behind the F-M duo of Annika Avery (5:04.38) and Alana Pearl (5:15.84).
Not only that, but Neal teamed with Madeline Adams to finish second on the team side in 11:00.36, with F-M (10:20.22) far out in front. Adams was also fifth in the 600-meter run in 1:50.77.
The Lakers also had some points in springs, as Amanda Wetmore and Ashley Bonocore tied for third with Cicero-North Syracuse in the 55-meter dash, each finishing in 16.16 seconds.
Alana Navaroli, third among individuals in the shot put with a throw of 31 feet, paired with Taylor Woodruff to finish sixth (54’5 ½”) on the team side. Julia Willcox and Aubreah Lynn cleared 9 feet between them in the high jump for another third-place finish.
Katelyn Ellison and Olivia Gage were fifth in the 300-meter dash in a combined 1:33.47. Willcox and Liz Dwyer were seventh in the 1,000-meter run in 6:46.85, just missing the points. Keely Gregg tied for sixth (7 feet) in the pole vault, with Navaroli and Natalie Roche eighth in the triple jump.
In the boys Jensen meet, where Skaneateles earned six points, they all were earned in the shot put, where Sepp Martin and Alex Schneider each had top throws of 39’11”, and their combined 79’10” put them in third place, only trailing Cicero-North Syracuse (88’1”) and Liverpool (81’7”) at the end.
Patrick Biver and Alex Dunn were ninth in the 55 sprint, with Nick Smolenski and Griffin Lawson 10th in the 55 sprint. Andrew Weiss had a top long jump of 16’11 ¼”.
