Mayor Joseph Saraceni announced this year marks the 165th anniversary of the village becoming incorporated. In recognition of the milestone, he is organizing a volunteer committee to commemorate the anniversary and welcomes residents to get involved. Saraceni said the village is seeking at least 15 to 20 members for the committee. One of the goals of the committee includes developing a float for the Syracuse St. Patrick’s Day Parade and the Village Memorial Day Parade. To get involved, call the Village Clerk’s office at 635-3521.
Village considers increased parking
With the long awaited opening of Suds River Grill, a new restaurant located across the street from the Red Mill Inn, village officials are considering adding parking spots on Marble Street. Mayor Saraceni said he spoke to business owners in the area and they would be open to helping in the cause. Ideas include widening Marble Street and possibly pushing back the cul-de-sac at the end of the road to accommodate more parking.
