The Lysander Town Board recently cut costs by changing the status of a town position.
The secretary to the town supervisor put in a letter of resignation as she was moving out of the area. Officials took the opportunity to review the position’s duties and the time it takes to perform those duties and decided to reduce the position from a 32-hour per week position to a 20 to 25 hour per week position. The reduction in hours will also mean savings on benefits as the position is now considered part-time.
Public hearing rescheduled
A public hearing to consider amending Chapter 101 of the Lysander Town Code titled public access to records that was originally scheduled for Monday, Aug. 13, has been rescheduled for 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27, at the Lysander Town Hall. This hearing will discuss alternatives to who currently handles FOIL requests and other public records.
Motion to dismiss filed
Lysander Attorney Anthony Rivizzigno announced he filed a motion on behalf of the town to dismiss the lawsuit filed against the town and against Councilor Andy Reeves by the former dog control officer. The motion is scheduled to be heard in September.
