After working hard down the stretch to earn a spot in the Section III Class B playoffs, the Skaneateles softball team wanted to stay for a while.
However, it did not take place as the no. 13 seed Lakers went to no. 4 seed Holland Patent in last Thursday’s opening round and lost a 4-2 decision to the Golden Knights.
All through the first five innings, Skaneateles could not get on the board. Meanwhile, HP moved in front by getting a run in the first inning, two runs in the third and a run in the fifth.
Now trailing 4-0, Skaneateles would nearly making it back, scoring single runs in the sixth and seventh innings before the Golden Knights closed it out. The Lakers finished its season with a 7-9 record.
