Lysander officials have rescinded the appointment of Al Yager as deputy highway superintendent, as well as the attached salary of $10,000 per year. Yager was initially appointed to the position at the March 26 town board meeting. However, after reviewing town law, officials learned the person appointed to the deputy position must be a resident of the town. Supervisor John Salisbury said the town board is looking into other options to fill the gap left in the highway department once Highway Superintendent Bruce Reeves retires at the end of April.
