Baldwinsville officials have amended a local law requiring the treasurer to live within village limits.
After holding a public hearing during the Dec. 1 board meeting, at which no comments were made either for or against the amendment, the village board approved the change to the local law. According to Village Clerk Maureen Butler, village officials wanted to open up the search to see if there were more qualified candidates available beyond the village line.
“We’re in the process of revamping the code, anyway,” she said, adding officials felt this was a good time to address the issue, especially considering there is no residency requirement for either the positions of village clerk or village engineer.
