Many different contributors were needed for the Baldwinsville girls swim team to make it five wins in as many meets in 2011.
The Bees met Fayetteville-Manlius Wednesday night at Nottingham, where the Hornets have home meets and where the Section III championships take place in early November. Kaitlyn Martin’s pair of titles paced B’ville in a 98-77 victory.
In the 200 freestyle, Martin beat the field in 2:06.75, and she returned in the 500 freestyle, earning first place in a season-best time of 5:40.50. Not stopping there, Martin joined Elena Margrey, Charis Parker and Megan Eubank to win the 200 freestyle relay in 1:50.58.
B’ville had the lead from the start, thanks to the quartet of Parker, Eubnak, Abby Whiting and Samantha Sidorakis, who tore through the 200 medley relay in 2:03.87.
When swimming on her own, Parker tacked on a victory in the 100 butterlfy in 1:10.97, while Sidorakis stood out in the 100 backstroke as she won in 1:05.37. Even more help arrived from Brooke Atkinson, who claimed the 200 individual medley in 2:35.48.
Now all that separates the Bees from the Oct. 25 first-place showdown with West Genesee is a win this Thursday against Cicero-North Syracuse at the LeMoyne College pool. CNS lost to the Wildcats 93-87 on the same night that B’ville was topping F-M.
