Still undefeated, the Christian Brothers Academy girls swim team handled the challenge from Manlius-Pebble Hill/Westhill Wednesday night, prevailing by a score of 92-82 at the LeMoyne College pool.
Summer Schmitt tore through the longest race on the schedule, the 500 freestyle, in a time of 5:07.54, this after she had swam the shortest event, the 50 freestyle, in 25.67 seconds.
Kathryn Coughlin handily MPH/Westhill’s Rachel Perry, 2:03.77 to 2:09.39, in the 200 freestyle, and also would prevail in the 100 butterfly in 1:04.10. Maggie Fletcher, second to Perry in the 100 backstroke, would win the 200 individual medley in 2:20.96.
Kelly Bewley had 182.75 points in diving, this before Liz Catalano edged Beth Lumia, 1:21.53 to 1:21.84, in a tight 100 breaststroke race.
Catalano also helped Schmitt, Coughlin and Courtney Finkbeiner win the 200 freestyle relay in 1:48.84 as Lexi McCauley joined Lumia, Schmitt and Catalano swimming the 200 medley relay in 2:03.58.
Jamesville-Dewitt returned Thursday and pummeled Cazenovia, improving to 3-1 on the season. Kalie Coyne won the 100 freestyle in 58.05 seconds, claimed the 100 backstroke (1:08.06) and helped in two different relays.
In the 200 medley, Sophia Farchione, Molly Hair and Amanda Behan helped Coyne to a time of 1:59.31, and in the 200 freestyle Morgan Pusey joined Coyne, Hair and Behan to prevail in 1:48.38.
Danielle Doss earned 210.05 points in diving as titles also went to Lauren Crosby (200 freestyle, 2:20.37), Meghan Byrnes (200 IM, 2:44.73), Katie Hughes (50 freestyle, 28.86 seconds), Erin Noble (100 butterfly, 1:14.99), Alden Coyne (500 freestyle, 5:54.88) and Maggie Wilhelm (100 breaststroke, 1:19.19).
Fayetteville-Manlius took another defeat, 96-90, to Cicero-North Syracuse at the Nottingham pool, hurt by the fact that the Northstars won two of three relays and a fair amount of individual races.
Katie Pechacek led the Hornets as she won the 200 freestyle in 2:03.62, and followed it up by swimming the 500 freestyle in 5:30.45.
Julie Barger edged CNS’s Kim Morris, 1:10.13 to 1:10.93, in the 100 backstroke, and Pechacek and Barger helped Caroline Wilson and Caroline Mortelitti win the 400 freestyle relay in 4:02.47.
