On June 9, the Van Buren Republican Committee selected a complete slate of candidates for the November election, which included some changes.
Current town councilor Derek Shepard has been selected to run for the District 13 County Legislator position, which is now filled by Bob Warner, a republican. Anthony Saraceni has been selected to run for Shepard’s town councilor position. Also running for town councilor are Mary Francis Sabin and Howard Tupper, both incumbents. Claude Sykes will run for town supervisor, Lynn Precourt will run for town clerk and Darlene O’Kane will run for fifth judicial delegate.
Ed Parks, the current highway superintendent will retire June 30, so the committee has selected Doug Foster to run for the position in the fall.
