Pat Bertoletti, left, and Joey Chestnut, right, scarf down more than 25 pounds of Hinerwadel’s salt potatoes during last Saturday’s World Salt Potato Eating Championship, presented by JGB Enterprises. Chestnut won the contest consuming 13 pounds of salt potatoes in 10 minutes. He ate two pounds of potatoes in the last 60 seconds. Bertoletti, who came in second place, ate 12 pounds 8 ounces of potatoes. “I knew I could beat him,” Chestnut said about Bertoletti. “It was just a matter of getting them in and getting them down.” There were 13 participants in the contest, which was part of the Wild Carp Week Kick-off held at Paper Mill Island May 14.
