A second public reception will be held tonight at Corcoran High School to introduce the community to the second of two finalists for the superintendent position with the Syracuse City School District.
The Board of Education announced last night that Sharon Contreras, currently the chief academic officer for the Providence Public Schools in Rhode Island, has been selected as the second and final candidate to take over leadership of the Syracuse city schools when superintendent Daniel Lowengard retires in June.
Contreras will speak tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Corcoran, 919 Glenwood Ave., and will be available afterward to interact with community members, parents and district employees.
Last night, Bernard Taylor Jr. was introduced to the community as the other candidate for the top spot. More than 100 people attended the reception.
