Zachary Bonavita, a Cazenovia High School student who just completed the 11th grade was nominated and sponsored by the Cazenovia Rotary Club to attend the Rotary Youth Leadership Award Seminar held at Cazenovia College on July 9 to 11. Bonavita along with forty two other high school students from around Central New York attended the three-day seminar designed to develop leadership skills, teamwork, ethics communication and decision making skills through a variety of workshops and exercises involving the students and guest participants.
Bonavita was among eight teens from Madison County to attend this Rotary Seminar.
“We want the teams to learn skills they can use in years to come” said Larry Richardson, the district’s RYLA Chairman and member of the Chittenango Rotary Club. “Each RYLA graduate is also expected to complete a service project by the end of this year.”
Bonavita will be forgoing his senior year at Cazenovia High School and instead will be attending a college preparatory school, The Pomfret School in Pomfret, Conn. to further his interest in engineering as well as pursing a collegiate career in ice hockey and baseball.
