According to preliminary results from the Madison County Board of Elections, Kurt Wheeler and David Porter will fill the two open trustee positions in the Cazenovia Village Board after June 15 elections.
Wheeler, an incumbent, received 263 votes, while Porter, a challenger, had 225. Challenger and newcomer Kaleb Wilson had 107 votes.
Timothy A. Moore received 231 votes for village justice. He ran unopposed.
Wheeler thanked constituents and supporters in an e-mail late tonight.
“Thank you to all those who took time to vote in today’s village election,” he said. “I am especially grateful to those who assisted with the campaign by offering to have a sign, donating for advertisements, passing on an email or persuading a neighbor to vote.
“I am appreciative of the trust extended by the community to allow me the privilege of serving for another two years. I look forward to working side by side with Dave Porter on the board and commend Kaleb Wilson for his interest in public service and for allowing us to have a contested election.”
