Tony Saraceni addresses the crowd at Pucello’s after learning he was selected as the 2009 volunteer of the year by the BVC.
Last year’s male volunteer of the year, Jack Gramlich, spoke about Saraceni’s contributions before revealing his identity. Gramlich noted Saraceni’s involvement as vice president of the Greater Baldwinsville Chamber of Commerce and as an active member of organizations including the GBEDA, BVC, Baldwinsville Kiwanis, Oktoberfest and chair of Baldwinsville’s Big Chill.
“Baldwinsville is a better place because of his efforts,” Gramlich said, adding that Saraceni “even runs around as a turkey sometimes” during the annual Kiwanis Turkey Trot.
Saraceni was gracious accepting the honor noting he was at the ceremony to support Bowers, whom he had nominated for the 2009 Woman Volunteer of the Year.
“Liz, you’re awesome and I love you. You’re the best,” he said.
The BVC held its annual Baldwinsville Man and Woman Volunteer of the Year Awards dinner Saturday May 8 at Pucello’s Restaurant in Village Green.
