On behalf of the Baldwinsville Public Library, Librarian Meg VanPatten recently accepted the book, Abbott Family History: Cold Springs, which was a donation from Author Bradley William Abbott to the library’s local history collection. “He really put a lot of work into it,” VanPatten said, noting the book contained not only family history, but an idea of life throughout the history of the area. “We’re grateful for anything that has to do with Baldwinsville, Lysander and Van Buren, whether historical or genealogical.”
Born on the six generation family farm in Cold Springs, Abbott became interested in family history as a boy through his parents, Jesse Jay Hollis Abbott and the former Mary Maud May (Abbott). The research and compilation of this family history includes the Abbott family from the early 1600s in Andover, Mass., the 1811 settlers to the Cold Springs Area from Vermont, as well as many local interest stories, short stories and photographs. Abbott currently resides in Brunswick, Georgia.
