On a beautiful fall morning, nearly 200 area residents ran, jogged and walked in the first ever Radisson 5K and Coyote Fun Run.
The 5-kilometer race, with 165 registered runners, passed through the streets and trails of Radisson. The race was intended to promote fun and healthy living and proceeds benefited the Baldwinsville Volunteer Center.
First- and second-place winners were recognized by sex and age group. In addition, more than 50 children ran around Kerri Hornaday Park in the Coyote Fun Run. Each participant received a medal and a lollipop.
All proceeds from the race, over $1,000, are being donated to the Baldwinsville Volunteer Center to help support its local programs such as the Christmas Bureau, Thanksgiving baskets, mentoring school children and senior transportation.
Organizers Rachel Grage and Michelle Sunderhaft pulled the event together in just a couple of months. They were helped on race day by more than 40 volunteers, Belgium-Cold Springs Fire Department, Greater Baldwinsville Ambulance Corp., NYS Troopers and the town of Lysander Highway Department.
Grage and Sunderhaft plan to make the race an annual fall event.
Several racers won door prizes provided by B’ville Diner, Chili’s, Dwyer Photography, Gino & Joe’s Pizza, Goose and Gander, Innovations Salon and Spa, Kristin Weaver, P&C, Sugar & Spice and Wegmans. Food was donated by Abbott Farms, Dunkin’ Donuts, Panera Bread and Starbucks and bottled water was donated by The Water Guys.
General sponsors included Aesthetic Plastic Surgery of Syracuse (Dr. Mark Potenza), Alliance Bank, Baldwinsville Medical Associates (Drs.
