Kittens and cats of all ages came to the Upstate Animal Clinic in Cazenovia last weekend, looking for a home.
Wayward Paws held its third annual Adopt-a-thon on Oct. 17 in front of the clinic by the P&C Plaza. The group’s mission is to fight the overpopulation of cats through spaying, neutering, foster care and finding permanent homes for cats.
This includes feeding and housing the cats until they can find permanent homes. Wayward Paws volunteers foster the cats at their homes, sometimes for more than a year.
Cats are available for an adoption fee of $90, which includes spaying/neutering, vaccinations, flea treatment, worming and FIV/feline leukemia testing.
Kittens not adopted are sent to North Shore Animal League, a no kill shelter, on Long Island for adoption.
Wayward Paws volunteers come largely from the Jamesville area, but they hold adoption events all around Central New York. There is a weekly event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Saturday at Petco, 3150 Erie Blvd., Dewitt.
Those interested in helping can donate money, cat food and dishes, cat litter, litter pans, cat toys and large dog crates for housing cats and kittens. Checks made payable to Wayward Paws, Inc. can be sent to 3205 Bush Road, Jamesville, N.Y. 13078. Donations are tax deductible.
Wayward Paws is also always looking for volunteer foster homes and volunteers for committees and fundraising.
