Chalk up another impressive effort from the Baldwinsville girls lacrosse team, currently sitting atop the www.laxpower.com national rankings.
the Bees went to Fayetteville-Manlius last Saturday and put together a 13-7 victory over the Hornets.
Here, the start counted for a lot. B’ville attacked on the offensive end, and its consistency, combined with more superb defense, led to a 9-3 halftime margin that would remain fairly steady the rest of the way.
Quincey Spagnoletti and Katie VanDeValk led the way, each with three-goal hat tricks.
Sarah Messmer stepped up, scoring twice, as Kara Moschetti also got two goals. Jen Fabian, Lauren Roberts and Caitlin Yaro each scored, too. B’ville’s defense was so strong that no F-M player scored more than once.
Erika Bulken finished with an assist, in a week where she signed her letter of intent to attend Wagner University on Staten Island and play Division I lacrosse. Each of B’ville’s 11 seniors will be playing lacrosse or soccer in the college ranks next year.
Now all B’ville has to do was go through games with Henninger/Nottingham and Cicero-North Syracuse this week before next Tuesday’s showdown with West Genesee. As of now, the Bees and Wildcats sit no. 1 and 2, respectively, in the state Class AA rankings.
