Members of the Liverpool Fire Department plan to conduct a “Boot Drive” this week to benefit the grandson of firefighter William Harris, whose daughter, Angela, was murdered last weekend.
At a special meeting convened to approve the 209-2010 budget, the Liverpool Board of Trustees also approved a request by LFD President Stanley Smith to allow department members to solicit donations from village motorists Friday and Saturday. Firefighters clad in uniform shirts will approach motorists at the intersections of Oswego, First, Second, Vine and Tulip streets between 4 and 6 p.m. Friday April 24, and from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday April 25.The money collected will benefit Angela Harris’ 6-month-old son, Draven.
Angela’s husband, Alex D. Martinez, has been charged with second-degree murder after police said he admitted fatally strangling his 21-year-old wife on April 18, at their apartment at 5 Grampian Road, in Clay. State Police said that Martinez, 22, walked into the Beacon Police Department about 7 a.m. Sunday, April 19 and — with Draven in his arms — told the desk officer he had killed his wife Saturday at their residence and then tried to sink the body in a downstate reservoir.
