Looking for high fashion at low prices? Look no further than Fashion Kraze in Cicero.
The store, which opened just after Thanksgiving, carries brand-name merchandise for men, women, teens and kids. It joins stores in Oswego, Ogdensburg, Canton, Tupper Lake and Governeur, and manager Donna Lebaron said the chain plans to expand throughout Central and Northern New York. There are already stores as far west as Detroit and as far south as Long Island.
The chain is owned by Richard Greenspan, the former proprietor of the Wise Buys chain.
Lebaron said shoppers can find great bargains at Fashion Kraze.
“We’re a very family-oriented business,” she said. “And we sell the things families want at prices they can afford.”
Fashion Kraze carries brand names like lei, Gap, Calvin Klein, American Eagle, Aeropostale and more. But they’re available at deeply discounted prices.
“You could by something like a pair of lei jeans for $30 or $40 at a department store,” Lebaron said. “You can get them here for $12.99.”
Each sales ticket includes not only the price at Fashion Kraze, but also the suggested market retail, for which the item would sell at a department store.
“That way, you can see how much you’re saving,” Lebaron said.
The store also runs regular sales and specials, including discounts for teachers and other professionals.
Most importantly, the store fills every niche.
“We don’t just carry stuff for older people, or just stuff for babies and little kids,” store employee Heidi said. “We have a full range, from infants to kids to teens to men and women to plus sizes.”
The store also carries intimate apparel, socks and pantyhose.
So how can the store offer such good deals on such high-quality merchandise?
“We buy the overstock from the department stores,” Lebaron said. “Whatever they can’t sell, they sell to us at a discount, and we pass those savings on to our customers.”
Lebaron said Fashion Kraze hopes to provide an alternative in discount shopping to local families.
“We want to see repeat shoppers,” she said. “We can give them the quality and the brand name they can’t get from a Wal-Mart, but at the price they’d pay someplace like that. Our goal is to become the number one discount chain in Central New York.”
